Ruth Roman was born on June 22nd, 1939, in Lynn Massachusetts. The actress is the youngest child of Lithuanian Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold & Abraham Roman. When her father passed away as a carnival barker, as a young girl She was required to provide for the family by working as a maid and server. Ruth was raised in a poor neighborhood of Boston Massachusetts in which she went to the school. She quit the school she attended within two years of her education in order to pursue the profession of acting. This was not an easy path to pursue. Although she got a job in New York posing as a writer for a mystery publication however, there were no theatre opportunities that came her way. While in New York, she was employed at a bar as an entry-point girl, before quitting and moving back to Boston. As an usherette, she worked in the mornings and was a part of the New England Repertory Company by evening, her first ever permanent acting job. She graduated with a degree in drama from Bishop-Lee Theatre School.
