Ruth Roman was born on June 22, 1939 in Lynn Massachusetts. Ruth Roman is the youngest child of Lithuanian Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold & Abraham Roman. When she was a young girl, Roman's carnival-barker father died and made her mother Mary Pauline (Gold), to become a waitress or cleaner in order for them to remain alive. Ruth was a student at the school located in Boston's tenement region, which was the most deplorable. She quit school in just two years in order to study acting. The path she chose to take turned out to be filled with challenges and in New York, she obtained the opportunity to pose as stills in a magazine for crime However, the stage was not a match for her. In New York, she was employed at a bar, as a check-in girl before quitting before moving to Boston. She made ends meet with her ushering duties throughout the day, and at night performing in the New England Repertory Company, her first regular acting gig. In addition, she was a drama student and eventually graduated from the Bishop-Lee Theatre School.
