Ruth Roman was born on June 22, 1939 on June 22, 1939 in Lynn Massachusetts. The actress is the eldest child of Lithuanian Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold & Abraham Roman. When she was a young girl, Roman's carnival-barker father passed away, which caused her mother, Mary Pauline (Gold) to be a waitress or cleaner so that they could be able to survive. Ruth went to school and grew up in poverty within Boston Massachusetts in the tenement district. She left the school after just two years to take on a acting career. This was not an easy path to pursue. Even though she got a job at a theatre in New York posing as a still for a mystery magazine however, there were no theatre opportunities that were offered to her. Then in NYC, she was employed at a bar, as a check-in girl before quitting and moving back to Boston. She worked as an usherette during the day and then performed at the New England Repertory Company by night, which was her first acting position that was permanent. She also been accepted into Bishop-Lee Theatre School, where she was a drama student.
