Ruth Roman was born on June 22nd, 1939, on June 22, 1939 in Lynn Massachusetts. The actress is the eldest child of Lithuanian Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold & Abraham Roman. As a child, Ruth Roman's carnival-barker father died in a tragic way, which made her mother Mary Pauline (Gold) to work as cleaner or waitress so that they could survive. Ruth went to school and was poor throughout Boston Massachusetts' tenement districts. After only two school years the young woman left to pursue the acting career. This path was fraught with problems. When she was offered a job as a model in New York as a model for a magazine that dealt with detectives, she was unable to get opportunities for stage. The following job she got was an "hat check" girl for a nightclub before she gave up and returned to Boston. There she earned a living working as an usherette during the during the day and then at night was a part of the New England Repertory Company. This was her very first acting job. She earned a bachelor's certificate in drama at Bishop-Lee Theatre School.
